Pressure control solution for Caribbean cruise ship

T-T Flow supplied three pressure sustaining valves for a Caribbean cruise ship requiring an urgent pressure control solution for its water distribution system.
Working on behalf of a procurement firm in New Jersey, T-T was tasked with providing a solution to control upstream pressure within the system. Delivery speed was an important consideration because of the ship’s restricted schedule.
Three DN80 Direct Acting Pressure Sustaining Valves were selected. Unlike pressure reducing valves, pressure sustaining valves are designed to maintain pressure upstream even when downstream pressure changes. In this application, this was required to maintain pressure to pumps and other systems critical to the ship’s operation.
The hydraulically controlled valves provide pressure control without the need for complex control systems. They feature ductile iron bodies, stainless steel internals, a self-cleaning piston design and fusion-bonded epoxy coatings. They are rated for pressures up to 40 bar and comply with EN1074-5, with hydraulic testing carried out to EN12266. The valves are also WRAS approved for potable water applications and individually serialised for traceability.
The three valves were supplied ready for installation, providing the vessel with a means of protecting upstream pressure within its water distribution system during operation.
