Fuel transfer pumps for overseas military base

Michael Smith Engineers has supplied four Dickow Pumpen magnetic drive centrifugal pumps for diesel and gas oil transfer duties at an overseas UK military base.
The API 685-compliant pumps use a sealless design, removing the need for mechanical seals and eliminating the associated risk of seal leakage. The design also reduces maintenance requirements and downtime, considerations that are particularly important at remote sites where maintenance access can be difficult and costly.
Dickow PRM Series heavy-duty magnetic drive centrifugal pumps were selected for the application. The pumps are engineered for a minimum expected service life of 20 years and designed to operate continuously for at least three years between planned maintenance intervals.
The package comprised one PRM huh 150/320 pump, long-coupled to a 37 kW, four-pole motor and delivering 270 m³/h at approximately 30 metres differential head. Three PRM huh 80/320 pumps were also supplied, each long-coupled to a 75 kW, two-pole motor and delivering 130 m³/h at approximately 105 metres differential head.
