Sulzer launches global water treatment centre of excellence

Sulzer has launched a new global centre of excellence (CoE) for water treatment solutions. With this strategic step, the company aims to strengthen its role in addressing global challenges in water management.

The CoE brings together Sulzer’s expertise in wastewater treatment and combines the company’s engineering competence, in-depth process knowledge, and technology portfolio – from screening and sedimentation to filtration and flotation. By consolidating the strengths of Sulzer’s brands, including Nordic Water, FRC Systems, IPEC, JWC Screens, Owatec, and Probig, Sulzer says it has created a powerful, end-to-end offering that minimises complexity, reduces risk, and optimises lifecycle costs for customers.

Global expertise, local implementation

The CoE has been designed to serve as a global competence centre for technology development, solution design, and knowledge transfer, ensuring the highest quality worldwide. The company says that customers will benefit from tailor-made solutions from a single source, aligned with their individual process requirements. The combination of centralised engineering and regional implementation teams accelerates projects and delivers reliable, predictable results.

In addition, the CoE aims to drive innovation in tackling new challenges, including the removal of micropollutants, PFAS (‘forever chemicals’), as well as solutions for water reuse. This will help Sulzer support its customers in meeting strict regulatory requirements and ambitious sustainability goals.

“The centre of excellence is a cornerstone of our strategy to lead in water treatment solutions,” said Mathias Pruessing, Division President, Flow at Sulzer. “Our customers seek simplicity, reliability, and sustainability. With the new centre of excellence, Sulzer is uniquely positioned to deliver all three – helping communities and industries secure water for generations to come.”
