Specialised solution for high-pressure grout transfer

North Ridge Pumps has supplied a pair of custom-engineered RBT40 peristaltic pumps to address the challenging requirements of high-pressure grout transfer at a significant construction site.

The bespoke pumping solution, capable of delivering up to three tonnes of grout per hour at pressures reaching 15 bar, was developed to overcome the specific challenges associated with transferring abrasive, solids-laden materials over long distances.

“Grout transfer presents multiple engineering challenges that conventional pumping equipment simply cannot handle effectively,” said a spokesperson for North Ridge Pumps. “The abrasive nature of the material, its tendency toward separation, and the high pressures required for long-distance transfer all demand specialised equipment designed for these precise conditions.”

The peristaltic pumps supplied incorporate advanced safety features, including built-in leakage detection systems that automatically halt operation if hose rupture occurs, preventing costly and hazardous spills. This technology proves particularly valuable in construction environments where pumps may remain inactive between batches or for extended periods.

To ensure continuous operation and minimise maintenance downtime, North Ridge included spare parts with the installation, providing sufficient replacement hoses and lubricant for an estimated 1-2 years of uninterrupted service. The equipment requires minimal training for maintenance, enabling on-site staff to perform routine servicing quickly and efficiently.
