Kiwa Ltd Approved for BS 6920 Testing Under Water Regulation 31

Kiwa Ltd, a leading provider of complete testing, approval and certification services for water products and components, has been officially accepted by the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) as a listed laboratory to undertake BS 6920 testing for Water Regulation 31.
BS 6920 is a requirement for manufacturers and suppliers of non-metallic materials and products that are used in contact with drinking water to be compliant with UK water regulations.
Kiwa Ltd is an established approval and testing provider for BS 6920, which is designed to ensure that any plumbing products and materials used inside premises (homes, businesses, buildings) do not affect drinking water quality.
Regulation 31 focuses on substances and materials used in the public water supply system (such as pipes, fittings, coatings, and treatment chemicals) to ensure they do not contaminate drinking water.
The decision to add Regulation 31 testing to its services, which came as a result of customer demand and a drive from DWI to increase the number of laboratories on its approval list, enables Kiwa Ltd to offer existing and potential customers a more complete service as it increases its coverage of the water supply network.
Commenting on the move, Jonathan Price, Business Development Manager at Kiwa Watertec, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer testing to BS 6920 for Water Regulation 31 alongside our established services. Early customer feedback has been extremely positive, not least because it simplifies manufacturer’s supplier relationships and enables them to cover more of their products with one supplier. In addition, increasing laboratory capacity for the DWI means that manufacturers and supplier can have their materials and products tested to be compliant, and more importantly on the market, more quickly. More compliant materials and products on the market and in our water supply network, makes the water we drink much safer.”
